Nosaj Thing is Jason Chung, an LA based producer who popped up on my radar after I heard his remix of Flying Lotus' 'Camel.' The song starts off with a throbbing synth line and a few soft ethereal whispers that quickly transforms into a heavenly soundscape set over the perfect bare minimum of bass & claps. Chung creates a haunting ambiance set over moody, poignant beats that evoke a range of emotions and visceral connections. This video is for his song entitled "Aquarium" that follows suit with its pleasing sustained synths, dreamy acoustic guitars, and angelic vocal musings over a perfectly balanced drum track. The video for "Aquarium" is a beautiful vignette into a little-mermaid-esque dreamscape that is surprisingly romantic while also making fun of itself at the same time. One of my new years resolutions is to hear more music like this in 2009. Check it.
