I think it was Mike who clued me in on the potential remake of the 1984 classic The Never Ending Story. Yes, we may all ho and hum now, as it looks like its a go from Warner Brothers (still no light on who the direct might be), but the release date is set for 2012. I haven't been too annoyed with some with of the remakes that have been floating around hollywood this decade, like other movie addicts have (hey I thought King Kong was good, personally!). But this? This is a little too far...the whole appeal of Never Ending Story comes from its 80s special effects and whimsical puppets that are ignored in modern cinema. It would be like remaking Labyrinth, or Blade Runner which I'm knocking on wood that they don't do. So I guess the point of this rant is oh gee it stinks they're remaking it, but I think all of us will be a little curious to see what the trailer looks like. (PS they're making a sequel to Donnie Darko.. total bummer, but Spike Jonez directed the to be released this year Where The Wild Things Are..So Sweet!)
