One of my favorite new acts these days, Empress Of continues to be Impress-Of. The Brooklynite's latest single is a whirling, kaleidscopic, magic-card theme head trip. Dripping with detuned brass synths and stumbling snares, this one really makes me weak in the knees. When it comes to female vocalists doing the woozy, Neu Wave thing EO seems to stand above others like Sleep ∞ Over, or Still Corners. So jump into this mud bucket and let the glittering slop consume you!

Boy Friend - The Lair
Boy Friend, the spin-off, side group of ex Sleep ∞ Over members Christa Palazzolo and Sarah Brown return with new jams for their soon to be LP. Boy Friend, is a woozy, lofi, (not as weird, or dark as Sleep ∞ Over is now) group that loves synths and forgotten drum machines of the past.
Their new single, "The Lair," is reminiscent of Depeche Mode and Cocteau Twins, but even more recently old school R&B lovers Drake or The Weekend. The beat is an electro version of The Jesus and Mary Chain's "Just Like Honey," with a few scarce chords echoing behind BF's translucent vocals. Yeah, its another slow jam, cuz thats our shit:
