Deerhunter continue to breathe life into a somewhat stagnant pool of music being produced this year. 2015 has been chalked full of impressive releases and yet, sadly, there continues to being a plethora of utter schlock rattling around the net. Well, the schlock stops here. Deerhunter a band that progressively continues to progress and will probably prove to be a group of truly propulsive pop prospectors, drop this song, a hot new single that will force you to keep pressing play. Breaker is the amalgam of all things Deerhunter; with a hook and tonality that somehow seems to transcend all of their past work at the same time. It is a song that is equal parts Orange Juice and Fleetwood Mac, with extra touches of Dream Pop and modern Indie guitar music. Melting 6 strings peel away, beneath a street walkin bass. The hook erupts with a crescendo of duelling harmonies that could make Grizzly Bear jealous. There's also a dreamy Pumkins'esque bridge that allows the song to drift slightly, if only for a moment, before being sucked back into place by that unforgivably kept bass. The frontier may be fading, but the boys of DH are still shining bright. Check it:

Dead Moon - D O A (video)
Look Back In Anger: Oregon's Dead Moon, were dark visionaries, exploring the solitary lunar landscape of punk and garage rock. Strumming and mumbling through the dribbly depths of low fidelity from the late 80s to early 00s, DM set a standard for paper mached guitar music and back-2-basix Punk. Think Deerhunter and Black Lips, plus like Television Personalities and The Cramps. Good shit:

Milk Music - I've Got a Wild Feeling.
Churn The Beatles "I've Got a Feeling" through a meat grinder and still it wouldn't sound much like this song. Milk Music, who's band name makes me want to vom (milk is gross, seriously.) channel 90s fuzz bands like Dinosaur Jr, Sonic Youth and little bit of Pavement. This jam is a totally crunchy nugget that makes you wanna dump a 24oz. Genesee all over your neck and smoke 3 Camel Crush's to the face. Its the sort of tune you hear blasting out of the jukebox at a smelly bar and you have to shout over it to be heard, and your friend is like, "Dude, who is this?" and your like "I dunno man, I think its a new Yuck song." and their like, "Oh yeah, sounds like it - wait, doesn't Deerhunter have a new album coming out?" "Yeah I think so." Yeah, its that sort of fucking song, dewd.

Deerhunter - Monomania
Look, evvvvvveryone is talking/talked about this track already, but like it is good so... If you haven't been on the net in the last 24 hours, than you missed everyones heads exploding when Deerhunter played Fallon and Bradford rocked a wig and bounced from the studio and then they released their new fuzzy title track on YT. Deerhunter are back you guys, and they're super punk-rock-n-roll, dirty Americana badasses now. Their old bassist left the band, but they don't give a fuck. They're putting out a new record and its going put a bullet right in everyones' skulls. Deerhunter.
New Track.

White Ink
Deerhunter have a new vid for an old jam. "White Ink" is off of Cryptograms but their spaced out, lava lamp-esque video is new (unless I'm mistaken). The track is pretty much instrumental but still a keeper. The clip is hypnotic, syncing with the music and drawing you into the drops of blue.

Deerhunter at the Gummys
So Stereogum just recently had their "Gummy Awards 08' Live" at the Music Hall of Williamsburg. Which pretty much was just a live show with a couple of the band Stereogum likes..I think. Anyway they posted some vids of some of the performances and i reckon the one I fancy the most is this one. Yes, its Deerhunter playing one of the quicker/louder ones of their recently release "Microcastle." The sound quality ain't bad and I kinda wish I had been there, but oh wait I was in London. Well here's "Never Stops":

Bradford Cox unloads a new Session

"Bradford Cox recorded the session during the night of 9/15 at Studio Plateaux on the Platts Eyott Island, a nature reserve on the Thames, London. The place is packed with vintage Ribbon microphones, etc. He played all the instruments. 4AD says that "the idea behind the session was in memory of John Peel and his famous Radio 1 sessions." Like the radio, you're supposed to listen to the results in order, without interruption. If you do, you'll hear Microcastle reworkings, a new "Spring Hall Convert," and unreleased material. It's available in an edition of 200 cassettes: 100 orange, 100 pink. You can only get the orange ones tonight in Georgia, but if you can't make it, or threw out your cassette deck years ago, listen to it all using this fancy player. While there, you can also sign-up to win a copy of Platts Eyott in pink."[Stereogum] So yeah its a pretty hot collection of jams so check em out here: http://www.4ad.com/features/deerhunter/
