Normally I'm not an enormous fan of Chromeo. Their name is dumb. They sound like a watered down version of Hall & Oates and Holy Ghost! combined. The one guy is not as cool as A-trak. All that aside, Come Alive is wondrous song. Maybe its the influence of Chaz Bundick, or maybe Chromeo has just gotten their shit together, but so far this is the best dance trizzy of 2014! Blending sounds of Nouveau Disco with something like Nouveau House (both of which are Über chic right now) Chromeo hits the nail on the head with this one. This could be a glossafied cut from Toro's first album, either way its a club banger! check it:

Blood Orange - Time Will Tell (video)
The latest single/clip from Dev Hynes is a sparse piano ballad reminiscent of his Sky Ferreira hit and an early Lionel Richie jam. Dev slides through a milky dance studio, plunking away on an ivory grand and then stepping into some Richie/MJ-esque dance moves. Its a simple but effective tune, proving once again that Hynes is the master of culling up a true retro R&B vibe. This is def a good one to check out, you won't be able to hit pause!

David Bowie - Love Is Lost (Hello Steve Reich Mix by James Murphy)
Showcasing his mastery of threading synthesized melodies and unusual beats, James Murphy needlepoints one of David Bowie's latest singles into a slow-building, dark-disco opus. Beautifully unassuming, a round of applause morphs into a trance inducing beat, while a square-wave synth gesticulates under Bowie's horse vocals. Its a wondrous thing; tune in:

Holy Ghost! - Teenagers In Heat
If ever there was a song(and band) that was biting a tremendous chunk out of New Order (in the best possible way!) its Holy Ghost!. Currently the BK duo are plowing through a a string of US tour dates supporting New Order, (and they'll both be rockin the park in Williamsburg next week wutttupppppp!!!). Later in the summer we'll be treated to HG's new LP, but until then here's a new single! No doubt, you've already heard this song on the most recent mixtape from CitiesInDust , but I was bumpin this jam this morning and felt the need to throw it up as well. This is one of the poppiest songs the group has yet released, and really it feels so right. So plug those earbuds in, bud..cuz really we're all just teenagers at heart...and right now in the heat, too!

The Scent of Summer (a mix of warm weather club bangers) by Latest Bigfoot Sightings
I took last week off to contemplate the 150th anniversary of The Battle of Gettysburg. But this week I'd like to welcome everyone back into my fold, with a brand spankin new collection of steamy Summertime songs. Its a mix of music I've thought long and hard about and it may in fact be the first and last collection of tunes I ever compile. So get it while its hot. There should be something in here for everyone, even you.
