Some people have more vivid dreams than others. College is one of those dudes, delving deeper into Dream-wave than other nostalgia-aficionado. If you missed the Drive tour last summer than you truly missed several time warping hours that transported an entire audience back to a better time. A time when phones belonged in cars and computers really only worked when you wore a bra on your head.
Révélation fits comfortably among the College discography, with its familiar synth throbs and slow building machine drums and bass. Its got that optimistic je ne sais quoi sound, where it could very easily work as the soundtrack to some pre-prom ritual, or a top-down drive along a moonlit beach boulevard. So tune in, and for a few minutes.. travel back.. College - Révélation

This Week In Ballads - Chapter 1

I'd like to introduce a new reoccurring column to LBS. This Week In Ballads will be an in-depth and out-depth coverage of ballads you need to be listening to right now. And so let us open to chapter one:
This first gem comes from the highly underrate and largely ignored mid 80s, pop group Journey. Nearly no one has heard of these guys, besides me. And I'm here to say, "Hey! Listen up y'all! Listen to this band called Journey, they've got something to say and someone needs to be listening to it!"
This song "I'll Be Alright Without You," is a real heart-soother. Broken heart? Listen to this:
This next gem is a personal fav or mine. Coming from a land-down-undah, Crowded House loves to pull out your heart, chop it, dice it and fillet it with a little bit of the ol Aussie Oy! Boy, this guy can croon. Did somebody say they were counting the steps to the door of my heart? Yes they did. Well come on in.
Finally, the last gem in this chapter of: The Book on Love, comes from The Cars. The Cars, you guys. Somehow these guys are still around today! What? Yeah, I know..but they did also write Just What I Needed, so cut em some slack. "Drive," happens to have a little less drive than Just What I Needed, but you can almost taste the sweat dripping out this song. Plus its in black and white. Plus check out the babe in this one. Hubba hubba!
Thanks for tuning in guys! And be ready for the next installment of This Week In Ballads - Chapter 2..coming soon!
CUDI + DESIRE = TELEPORT 2 ME, JAMIE

OKay you guys. So according to Pedia WZRD is an "American alternative rock duo." Which means its KiD CuDi and Dot da Genius working together on a new Cud album. I guess. Its something like that.... Cudi says its "wizardry at its finest." Thanks Cud man. Sorry about How To Make It In America getting canceled...maybe you shouldn't have boned your best friend's girl...
Anyway the ol Cud-mister is super into electro and like indie rock, guys. He's hip. He's in New York. As we speak he's doing cooler shit than all of us. Also he saw the movie Drive and was totally into that soundtrack too. He was taken under its spell..if you will. Now LBS favs, Desire (check their video posted bellow) serve as a backing track for WZRD's new single and the results are so KeWl...I guess. I dunno what this song is really about, but listen up anyway. WZRD, you guys:

Desire - Don't Call

This song is SOOOOO OLD! Like 2009 old. I remember popping this cassette into the dash of my Trans Am, and cruising round the city, in search of Philly's hottest club. The streets would blur into one, as the ecstasy pulsed through my veins and the night held me close in its icy arms. Yeah, its one of those songs.
Desire is another disco-duo created by mastermind (and personal god) Johnny Jewel. I guess Johnny's revamping all his old flames this year and it seemed fitting to finally make a video for "Don't Call." Also, you may recall another one of their jams from the Drive soundtrack... Anywho, this song has always been good and the vid's pretty neat too. A girl stares longingly at the sea and wipes stream from a mirror...what could it all mean?..

Anoraak - Above Your Head

Don't how I missed this one, but I did. Valerie Collective have been getting a lotta heat recently, pretty much blowin up with that Drive soundtrack and that College song. Anoraak has always been a personal fav of mine, Night Drive anyone? Shit is gold. This guy makes me my heart swell. The throbbing bass, the silky French voice, the icey, but at the same time warm synth stabs ooooooooOOooOooo it feels so right. This kaleidoscopic video is filled with bangin vistas and epic, Alp-like landscapes. The song feels like a city jam, but mountains will do. Peep it:
