Robert Smith - There's A Girl In A Corner

The Cure are gearing up for a new album and I couldn't be more elated! To prep us for their future Long Player, good ol Bobby Smith has dropped a cover of The Twilight Sad's There's A Girl In A Corner (not to be confused with any Cure song with Girl in the title..) Smith infuses the song with a blend of midi synths and his unmistakeable warble. Its classic Cure, or maybe its classic Twilight Sad... either way its an instant Friday-Goth-classic, with a bit of a modern twist ;) Happy Memorial Day WEEKEND!!!

The Snow - Memory Loss

Captured Tracks dream team, mega band (that is not Special Guest...), The Snow, release this new single that sits some where between Beach Fossils and The Cure. This is apparently a collabo from a few years back between members of Beach Fossils, Wild Nothing, and Holograms. It's a sweet tune that hopefully allows our minds to lose their recent memory of snow... :>/

The Pains of Being Pure at Heart - Belong

The new video for TPOBPAH is a real trip down memory pane. The Pains haven't put out an album since 2011, so this clip is sorta a blast from the past.. on numerous levels. Proving that not everyone does look good in make-up, the band puts together a their best Cure-meets-Pumpkins-meets-Weezer look for a totally 90s stage(d) performance of Belong. It's a fun vid, and brings to mind the latest from Dum Dum Girls, which also rips visuals from the hey-day of Alt videos. So tune in here! And get your fuzz on:

I've Waited Hours For This

Lady Sovereign released her new video for her single "So Human." The most obvious part of this song is the beat and melody stole, or should i say sampled from The Cure's "Close To Me." It's a super catchy hook to begin with so whatever jibba jabba Sovereign is mumbling over it really doesn't matter, it still sound alright. The original is still much better with Robert's Smith's quivering, melodramatic voice at the heart of the track.
