Chastity Belt - Time To Go Home (video)
Here's a sleepy rocknroll jam from sum rocknroll chix. Whether scopin soccer dudes, dancin in the club, drinkin beer, or dancin in the club (w/ Macklemore) Chastity Belt keep it real. There's an obvious reference to other grungy, fuzz pop girl groups here, (IE Vivian Girls, Speedy Ortiz) but Chastity still spit their own sorta blend of high-till-we-die guitar music. If it really is time to go home, these ladies ain't goin nowhere.

Swirlies - Upstairs
Look Back In Anger: Thinking about lesser heard OG shoegaze, Swirlies come to mind. As of late, I've been bumpin their Blonder Tongue Audio Baton, so it seems totally worth it to give them a little blog love (#bluv). Swirlies did and do, sort of slosh between a traditional Shoegaze sound and more American, 90s fuzz pop. Your basic My Bloody Sonic Youthes, if you will. Upstairs is a cut off of What To Do About Them and it really sounds like something from Isn't Anything, or possibly an early Pumkins demo. Anywho, here's something to wet your hair to at least..

The Jesus & Mary Chain - April Skies (video)
Look Back In Anger: We're almost done with these April Skies, so why not revel in their grandeur just a little bit longer. I've been spinning a lot of 21 singles recently, but if you want to get a little more in-depth with this section of Chain history, I'd love to point you towards Darklands. This is one of, if not the best records of JAMC. April Skies is the perfect combo of familiar Mary Chain fuzzpop, with nods to traditional Rock-N-Roll, and Rockabilly. Hardbody, Guitarville, UK. Population: These Scottish dudes...makin love on the edge of a knife, forever and ever:

Popstrangers - Country Kills
Kiwi based Jangle-glammers, shake it up a bit with this taste of 3chord fuzz. Almost like a more Alt version of Clientele or a more guitar driven Big Pink, Popstrangers prove they're actually NOT strangers to Pop (LOL!). Country Kills is the type of jam you bob your head from left to right to, until the chorus hits and it suddenly becomes a much more up and down sort of affair. Dude, just trust me on this one:

Nai Harvest - Rush
Here's are a pair of young Brits who tremble between American Football and something like Dinosaur Jr. Its a total early 00s meets early 90s blend that really sounds quite right. Be way ahead of the curve and dig on these mothers:

The Pains of Being Pure at Heart - Belong
The new video for TPOBPAH is a real trip down memory pane. The Pains haven't put out an album since 2011, so this clip is sorta a blast from the past.. on numerous levels. Proving that not everyone does look good in make-up, the band puts together a their best Cure-meets-Pumpkins-meets-Weezer look for a totally 90s stage(d) performance of Belong. It's a fun vid, and brings to mind the latest from Dum Dum Girls, which also rips visuals from the hey-day of Alt videos. So tune in here! And get your fuzz on:

Girls Names - Hypnotic Regression
This jingle jangle, post-punk, guitar warped, echo chambered, drone popper, is a true new neu wave ear tickler. Girls Names(w/ the world's worst band name), despite this track's title, have progressed from their fuzz-pop origins to a more intricate and accessible sound. Shedding the noise for dissonance and delay, GN seem to be channeling both Flock of Seagulls and Echo and the Bunnymen, without biting too much from either group. This is a rad tune, so give it a quick spin:
