Midnight to Monaco - One In A Million (Com Truise Remix)

Com Truise transforms the throbbing blue eyed soul of Midnight to Monaco into an anxious, 3AM club banger. In typical Truise fashion the song opens with interwoven drum samples fracturing beneath spaced out arpeggiators. What holds the track together is the pop style, nightclub vocals, from Midnight to Monaco, recalling 90s acts like Soul Decision. Cruise is a master of refashioning old sounds and bringing a new perspective to 80's synths. Not unlike a glitchier, Jan Hammer tune, this is a real nighttime song for the summer. Check it:

New Order - Tutti Frutti (Hot Chip remix)

Hot Chip spin one of New Order's latest tunes into a web of truth and club-banging. Lying somewhere between Pet Shop Boys and Giorgio Moroder, Tutti Frutti is an extra fun dance track with expansive synths and intricately laced drum samples. Like a sticky, dry-ice cloud enveloping the dance-floor, Hot Chip have deconstructed the track and rebuilt it stronger, and heavier. Like an extended Depeche Mode cut or the danciest breakdown off Kid A, this remix carries on with a hypnotic pulse, not unfamiliar to Disco, and Darkwave, but what else should we expected? It IS Hot Chip. Dude. Get into the groove:

Blood Orange - Uncle Ace (a/jus/ted Remix)

Blood Orange's crypto-sexual subway ode gets a Darkwave re-imagining, by way of a/jus/ted. big A churns Uncle Ace's Disco leanings into throbbing grime-synth thrill-pop. Its a soundscape to the sulfur-scented shadows, that linger in the back alley behind the club. You know what i mean:

Vondelpark - Always Forever (Debukas Remix)

We often talk about bangin in the club around here, but when you really get down to the nittygritty, some of those tracks that we talk about, really would not work that well in the club. Its true and I will admit it... But this time? It's forreal. I present: A beautiful house slammer from Vondelpark via Debukas. Debukas desmantles the downtempo, Volcano Choir-eqsue dream-poper, and reanimates it again as a Franken-rave-ready-bangore. Slow building and heavy handed, with a tonality that brings to mind both the past AND the future(listen to those 7th chords,yo!). This is like what you want you want to hear right now, on a Friday.

Phoenix - SOS In Bel Air (Ariel Pink Krystal Bamboo Remix)

Its a brand new Phoenix remix, courtesy Monsieur Pink! Ariel transfigures SOS from a bubbly snyth donut into a dreamefied Rock-n-Roll tune. This jam sort of reminds me of an Atlas Sound beat, or like a 60s Beach Boys-esque b-side. (This whole time I thought he had been sayin, "Crystal up in the RoooooOOooOom!") Have a lis:

Tei Shi - Nevermind The End (Saint Pepsi remix)

Rising R+B dream gal, Tei Shi gets the rewash treatment from Saint Pepsi (no relation to St. Vincent apparently). Saint Pepsi transforms Nevermind The End into a mid-tempo wave machine. It's Balearic sound combined with it's Foxes In Fiction riff , gives it a really Two Thousand and 14 chillwave vibe, that feels right during these last bitter strands of February.

Psychemagik - Black Noir Schwarz

Master class UK deejays, Psychemagik unload a Caterpillar 797B of track onto our fragile human skulls. Psychemagik are like the best at remixing old tunes, but here they deliver an original composition that hovers somewhere between Darkwave, Deephouse, and Techno. Repetition and icy robotics are at the heart of Black Noir Schwarz, a song that sounds like a collaboration between Kraftwerk and Gesaffelstein...sorta. This is a serious club banger:

Keep Shelly in Athens - Oostende (Postiljonen Remix)

KSIA's Oostende single gets transfigured into a deep-house-synth-gaze bang-ore. The vox drip with a stratospheric verb that has been glazed over the skull pulsing, elektrophized-strings. It feels like a jam that could have come out 3 years ago (as terrible as that sentence sounds), it has that glo-fi sound, but with a much more tasteful and relevant tinge to it. Get a load of it right here.. also Happy Halloween :D :

David Bowie - Love Is Lost (Hello Steve Reich Mix by James Murphy)

Showcasing his mastery of threading synthesized melodies and unusual beats, James Murphy needlepoints one of David Bowie's latest singles into a slow-building, dark-disco opus. Beautifully unassuming, a round of applause morphs into a trance inducing beat, while a square-wave synth gesticulates under Bowie's horse vocals. Its a wondrous thing; tune in:

Daft Punk ft. Panda Bear - Doin' It Right (The Golden Pony Remix)

The Golden Pony reminds us that sometimes all you need for a dope remix is hard ass drums and MONDO drops! Here's the first of probably a billion summer remixes that will come out of Daft Punk's new bizzaro futuristic retro disco opus. LET THE BEAT DROP!!!

Felix Da Housecat - Silver Screen (Oxford Remix)

If there ever was a House Cat, Felix Da would be him. On Silver Screen Felix unloads a giant wad of throbbing house onto our noggins. Its a jam that sounds like its being played in a club next door that only plays Paul Okenfold B-sides, circa 98'. Oxford takes the same tune and through the wonders of technology, flips it into a slinky, funkafied club banger. This is already at the top of my pre Pre-Summer Top Ten Hot Sizzlers list. Come get a taste:

The Pains of Being Pure at Heart - Terrible Friend (Washed Out Remix)

Brooklyn Twee-poppers, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart get the glo-fi treatment with a recent remix by the tropical-sunset-soundtrack pioneer, Washed Out. Earnest (WO) spaces out an already reverb heavy track with a load of side-chain, throbbing synths and some cloudy vocal effects. To be honest this version of the track appeals to me a lot more than the original. This cut comes from a forthcoming remix EP by TPOBPAT, to be released on Record Store Day. Check it:

Bear In Heaven - Reflection of You (Lovelock Remix)

1 of my fav bands. 1 of my fav remixers. Bear In Heaven are gearing up to drop a new album soon and its sure to be a bang-ore. Their last album glided between spaces of dream-pop, art-wave, and krautrock. While their new one seems to be leaning on a more synth-based sound. Reflection of You, their latest single was released a few weeks ago and in typical BIH fashion it features a heavy drum rhythm balanced by delicate male vocals, whispered above everything.

Lovelock, the mysterious Jan Hammer impersonating DJ, who gained some recognition last year for his mind-blow remix of Washed Out, takes on Bear's latest track and completely neuters it. Chopping off the anxiety ridden beat and chilling out the synths, Lovelock transforms this jam into the soudtrack for some island romance. The song enters ballad territory, as it oozes with warm Spandau Ballet-esque swells and chord changes.

M83 Remix White Lies

White Lies usually pull off the baritone 80s goth thing pretty well (even if their lyrics are a little weak at points). Anyway, they're no Horrors, but I'm still pretty into them. Luckily another one of my favorite 80s mimickers was commissioned to remix one of White Lies more mediocre jams! Yup M83 does it again, serving up a killer rework of "Nothing To Give." It's no club banger, but its still
hot

Two Weeks Remix

I forget if this was posted, but it should have been. One of the best singles of the year + a hot DJ=

Hearts On Fire Knightlife Remix

We love remixes. So I guess this one is a little old by now, but I just discovered it and its hot. Cut Copy=good. Knightlife=good. Put em together you get sick disco-club-haunts. Peep:
